The second turbine of the Vinh Tan 2 thermo-electric plant has successfully joined the national grid for testing. It is expected to officially operate by the end of this year. The first turbine joined the national grid in January.
With an investment of VND23.477 trillion ($1.1 billion), the thermo-electric plant, which includes two turbines with a capacity of 622 MW each, is located in Vinh Tan Commune, Tuy Phong District, Binh Thuan Province.
Invested in by EVN, the thermo-electric plant is expected to be finished by early next year, which will provide 7.2 billion kWh of power per year.

Quang Ngai to build 189 new fishing vessels
The central province of Quang Ngai plans to build 189 new fishing and logistic ships by 2016 worth a total of VND1.6 trillion (US$75.2 million) under the Government's Decree 67/2014/ND-CP on aquaculture development issued in July.
Bank loans account for more than VND1.4 trillion ($65.8 million) of the total and the rest comes from local fishermen.

Mekong Delta invests $5.4m in infrastructure
Provinces in the Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta region invested more than VND116.49 billion ($5.47 million) to build 26 road and bridge projects in the region in the first eight months of this year, according to the Southwest Steering Committee.
The investment also included financial support as well as provision of land for 1,749 poor households for agricultural production, said the committee.

Quang Ngai approves forestry project
The central province of Quang Ngai has approved a project to develop forestry in the province with a total investment of EUR42,750 ($55,255), of which more than EUR40,000 ($51,700) comes from non-refundable aid from the ministries of Foreign Affairs of Finland and the Netherlands.
Managed by the Quang Ngai Cooperative Alliance, the project will be implemented in Son Tinh and Nghia Hanh districts, according to the provincial people's committee.
