Khanh Hoa Province's People's Committee has approved a project on medical development for sea and island areas through 2020. Under the project, a new general hospital will be built on Truong Sa Island District by 2015.
The VND43.5 billion (US$2 million) construction will include 30 beds, modern equipment, and a telemedicine office that provides support and instruction from experienced doctors from the province's Naval Hospital 87. The project also aims to upgrade healthcare facilities in the district.

Ha Noi prepares for promotion month
The Ha Noi Industry and Trade Department has begun to prepare for the city's Promotion Month, which will take place from October 12 to November 16.
There will be 1,000 sites across the city selling goods produced and distributed by 350–500 local enterprises at reasonable prices.
Students will be offered a discount of 15-50 per cent from October 12-19. The city will provide online shopping via website www.hangvietchinhhang.vn from October 1-15.

Contest held to raise epidemic awareness
The public is encouraged to create short videos and audio clips, articles, photos and posters to call for epidemic disease control and prevention in a contest launched by the Ministry of Health.
The contest's topics include the national open vaccination programme, prevention and control of measles, dengue fever, hand-foot-mouth disease and Japanese encephalitis.
Participants can send their work to website www.thongdiepsuckhoe.com.vn by September 20. The results will be announced in mid-October.

Ca Mau develops shrimp fry production
The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta province of Ca Mau is carrying out a project on sustainable shrimp fry farming through 2020. The province targets an additional 150 farms and output up to 12 billion shrimp fries by 2020. The province now has 450 farms which provide 7-8 billion shrimp fries each year.
