Twenty-one out of 33 enterprises in HCM City that suffered a combined loss of VND5.4 billion ($260,000) during the anti-China riots in mid-May have resumed operations and have not sought compensation, the HCM City Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority said.

Only 13 enterprises had insurance.

Nine of them have made claims for VND3.8 billion ($180,000).

No company suffered direct loss due to the riots, but contracts were cancelled, materials and components held by companies in other provinces were destroyed, and debts could not be collected.
