Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc called on authorities in Quang Ngai Province's Duc Pho District to clear land by June 30 for expansion of an 81-kilometre section of Highway No.1.
Tran Em, the district's deputy chairman, promised that the lands would be handed over as scheduled.
Authorities are in the process of moving 320 families affected by the project to resettlement areas. They have so far moved 35 families.

Fines issued for illegal trade in timber
Binh Dinh Province authorities last Friday fined a Da Nang-based company VND45 million ($2,142) for illegally transporting precious wood and a Ha Noi man VND300 million (US$14,285) for buying and possessing it.
On April 22 forest management authorities of Tuy Phuoc District and Quy Nhon City found a container truck belonging to Hoa Lam Co.ltd carrying 1,270kg of wood to Le Ba Vu's house in the capital where they discovered another 9,966kg.

Japan provides free vaccines for babies
The head of Ha Noi Preventive Medicine Centre, Dr Nguyen Nhat Cam, said nearly 200,000 babies aged between one and three in Ha Noi are getting free vaccines against Japanese encephalitis.
The vaccination programme, divided into two phases, ends on June 29.

Ministry strengthens occupational advice
The Ministry of Education and Training has ordered secondary and high schools to co-operate with vocational schools to provide occupational counselling to their students to increase the number of students choosing vocational courses.
It also said they should organise more field trips to vocational schools and occupational counselling fairs for their students.
