The Cuu Long (Mekong) Delta region has welcomed nearly 11 million visitors in the first five months of the year, an 8.9 per cent increase from the same period of last year, according to the Mekong Delta Tourism Association.
Of them, more than 800,000 were foreigners, it said.
An Giang Province attracted the largest number of visitors with 4.1 million, while Tien Giang attracted the highest number of foreigners (264,000).
Events including the Southern Folk Cake festival in Can Tho, the Ha Tien Tourism Year and the first national Don Ca Tai Tu Festival in Bac Lieu were held during the period, contributing to the increase in arrivals, the association said.

Ha Noi economy grows at 7.4 per cent
Ha Noi's economy was estimated to grow by 7.4 per cent in the first half of this year, which would be 50 per cent higher than the national rate.
However, that growth would be down from the same period last year (7.67 per cent), according to the city's Department of Planning and Investment.

City trade fair shows off VN products
Around 200 local companies are displaying their products at the Ton Vinh Hang Viet (Honour Vietnamese Goods) fair that opened on Friday (June 6) at the Tan Binh Exhibition and Convention Centre.
The five-day fair has some 400 booths displaying garments, footwear, processed food, beverages, cosmetics, electronic and electrical products, household utensils and handicrafts.
The fair is expected to help businesses to advertise their goods and look for partners to boost the consumption of locally-made products.
