Trade surplus with Australia tops $410m

 Viet Nam had a trade surplus of US$410 million with Australia in the first four months of this year as its exports rose 11.5 per cent year-on-year to $1.07 billion while imports were $660 million, a rise of 50.9 per cent.

Crude oil topped the export list with more than $497 million followed by cell phones and components with nearly $120 million, according to the Viet Nam Trade Commission in Australia.

Ministry raises donations for fishermen

The Ministry of National Resources and Environment unveiled a campaign to donate money to fishermen to encourage them to continue fishing in the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagoes.

At a ceremony held to announce the campaign, the ministry's Labour Union received VND1.4 billion ($66,080) from donors.

Viet Nam opens tourism office in Tokyo

The Viet Nam Tourism Association opened a representative office for tour operators in Tokyo on Wednesday, Viet Nam's first overseas tourism office.

It is expected to help Vietnamese localities promote tourism in Japan.
