HCM City needs 25,000 workers for May

According to a report by the Center of Forecasting Manpower Needs and Labor Market Information HCM City on Tuesday, the city will need 25,000 workers next month.

Of this, unskilled workers make up 35 per cent and skilled workers, 25 per cent, with the rest made up by fresh graduates from junior college and university.

The average salary for skilled, experienced workers now is VND5-10 million, while inexperienced workers get VND3-5 million.

German consulate to move to new premises

The HCM City Department of Resources and Environment and the German consulate have signed an agreement to lease land located on 3-5 Le Van Huu Street in District 1 to build German House to house the consulate, German companies, and economic, cultural, and scientific organisations.

Nguyen Hoai Nam, deputy director of the department, said the 3,500sq.m will be leased for 99 years at VND1.

Nghe An hit by 2.5 magnitude quake

There was an earthquake of 2.5 magnitude early on Tuesday morning in the north-central province of Nghe An, according to the Institute of Geophysics.

It registered a third degree on the Medvedev-Sponheuer-Karnik, or MSK 64, international macroseismic intensity scale.

There have been several small and medium-sized earthquakes in the area recently.

ATMs not affected by Microsoft move

The State Bank of Viet Nam said the country's ATM networks would not be affected by Microsoft ceasing support for the Windows XP operating system.

The ATMs use another version of Windows XP that feature several changes to improve security.

The connections to the machines are managed by the banks' network systems, which monitor every effort to access the ATMs.
