Ha Noi families subject to the Government's preferential policies have received financial support to build and upgrade houses under a project begun this year by the city's People's Committee.
Under the project, each household will receive VND40 million (US$2,000) for new construction and VND20 million ($1,000) for upgrades. The project funds come from the city's budget and other sources.
Nearly 10,000 families will benefit from the programme.

Bac Lieu attracts 230,000 tourists
The southern province of Bac Lieu earned VND213 billion (US$10 million) from tourist services in the first quarter of this year, an increase of 11.8 per cent compared to the same period last year, according to the province's Department of Planning and Investment.
More than 230,000 tourists, including 7,600 foreigners, visited the province. Local authorities have offered policies to encourage investors and tourist agencies involved in the field.

HCM City to support soldiers' lives
HCM City this year will spend VND32 billion (US$1.5 million) on its community projects to improve the living conditions of soldiers and residents who live on the Truong Sa (Spratly) Islands. The money will be used to build a primary school and to buy clean-water holding tanks and food, clothes and books. Last year, the city spent VND20 billion ($1 million) on similar projects.

Labourers contribute to new museum
HCM City's Labour Union is working with its branches to encourage members to contribute to the new Museum of Viet Nam's Labour Unions and Labourers by collecting information, photos and other objects related to the history of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour.
