An Intelligent Transport System using advanced Japanese technology and costing VND831 billion (US$39.41 million) will be installed on the 55-kilometer HCM City-Dau Giay section of the North-South expressway.
It will have electronic toll collection, traffic control, and equipment monitoring systems.
Toshiba Corporation will provide the ITS equipment, Hitachi, Ltd., will install it, and ITOCHU Corporation will take care of related business affairs, according to the project owner Viet Nam Expressway Corporation.
To be funded by loans from Japan, it is expected to become operational in the first half of 2017.

Quang Tri suspends cattle imports
The Quang Tri Province People's Committee has ordered the local Department of Agriculture and Rural Development to suspend cattle imports through the Lao Bao border gate due to the outbreak of a cattle epidemic.
It also ordered the Veterinary Department to step up tests on livestock to prevent infection.

City attracts $750m in FDI
HCM City has attracted $750 million worth foreign direct investment (FDI) this year, a 55 per cent rise year-on-year, according to its Department of Planning and Investment.
This includes $687 million in 71 new projects and $61 million in 24 existing projects.
