Gov't approves traditional medicine project

The Government has approved an investment project to upgrade the traditional medicine hospital system nationwide in the 2014-25 period.

The target is to combine traditional and modern medicine in medical treatment to reduce overload at hospitals.

Under the project, 24 traditional medicine hospitals will be upgraded in the 2014-15 period.

In the 2016-20 period, the project will continue investing to upgrade infrastructure and provide necessary medical equipment for 48 hospitals.

Da Nang to revoke land from delayed projects

Da Nang City will reclaim land allocated to businesses for production that have not deployed their projects or do not have plans to implement them soon, according to the Da Nang Party Committee's office.

In addition, all tourism projects along the coast are required to be carried out by the end of 2015's first quarter; otherwise, the projects will be revoked, it said.

Agricultural sector credit set to surge

Total outstanding loans to the agricultural sector in HCM City this year is expected to reach VND35-37 trillion (US$1.65-$1.75 billion), an increase of 70-85 per cent over last year, said Nguyen Hoang Minh, deputy director of the State Bank of Viet Nam's HCM City branch.

The lending this year will focus on hi-tech agriculture and processing of farm produce to improve product quality and competitiveness, he said.

The maximum lending interest rate to the agricultural sector is now at 9 per cent per year, he said, adding that the central bank has encouraged commercial banks to reduce the interest rate to 7-8 per cent per year for short-term loans and 8-9 per cent per year for medium- and long-term loans.
