Tay Ninh wastewater treatment fails
The discharge system of Linh Trung III Industrial Zone's waste water treatment facility has been shut down after discharging insufficiently-treated water.
Between January 12 and 14, some 6,400 cubic metres of raw sewage water was reportedly discharged into the T3 channel with chemical oxygen demand (COD) levels five-times the legal limit.
Provincial authorities alleged that a company in the zone had boosted the volume of untreated water discharged into the system, diluting the channel's effluent levels.
According to the province's Natural Resources and Environment Department Director, Nguyen DInh Xuan, local officials have requested the management board of industrial zone to address the incident.
