The number of guest workers working overseas reached 70,253 in the first 10 months of the year, meeting 88 per cent of the country's target.
The figures were made known by the Overseas Labour Management Department under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.
In October, 7,496 labourers were sent to work abroad. Of them, 4,400 went to Taiwan, 726 to Japan, 470 to South Korea and the rest to other countries and territories.

HCM City to build 11 tourism ports
The HCM City People's Committee has approved a plan to build 11 ports to serve waterway tourism by 2014, said the Department of Transport on Tuesday.
Of the ports, seven will be built between 2013-14 and four will be built in 2014 with funds from the city's budget and private investors.

EVN opens six new power turbines
Viet Nam Electricity (EVN) on Tuesday said that it had put into operation six power generation turbines with a total capacity of 1,420 MW in the first 10 months of the year.
They are the turbines No 1 and 2 of the Ban Chat Hydropower Plant, turbines No 1 and 2 of the Nghi Son 1 Thermal Power Plant, turbine No 2 of the Quang Ninh 2 Thermal Power Plant and turbine No 1 of the Hai Phong 2 Thermal Power Plant.
During the period, the group also put into use 30 220-550kV transmission lines and began construction of 26 transmission lines.
