The co-operative sector has provided jobs for about 12.5 million labourers nationwide, said the Viet Nam Co-operative Alliance on Tuesday.
The sector has contributed 6.43 per cent of the country's GDP over the past 10 years while the capital invested in the sector accounted for only 0.63 per cent of the total capital invested in all sectors.

ODA disbursement reaches $3.6b
Total disbursement of official development assistance (ODA) reached more than US$3.58 billion in the first 10 months of the year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Of the figure, loans accounted for $3.36 billion and non-refundable aid accounted for $220 million. Transport, power energy, urban development, agriculture and rural development received higher amounts of ODA disbursement compared to other sectors.

Binh Dinh expands agricultural land
The central province of Binh Dinh will have a total of 160 large-scale fields on a total of 6,780ha of land in the coming winter-spring crop, according to the province's Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
The large-scale fields will grow rice, peanut, cassava, corn and sugarcane. Of the crops, rice will be cultivated on 140 large-scale fields with a total area of 5,945ha. The province will begin the winter-spring crop on November 25.
Binh Dinh currently has a total of 97 large-scale rice fields with a total area of 3,983ha. The profit from large-scale rice fields is VND16.1 million per hectare, VND5.1 million higher than other fields.
VN's energy demand to increase by 150%
Viet Nam's energy demand will increase by 2.5 times by 2015 and five times by 2020, said Nguyen Van Long, deputy head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade's Department of Science, Technology and Energy Efficiency.
The country's energy supply from domestic sources has not met domestic demand since 2010, he revealed.
