Binh Phuoc Province is providing nearly 1 million H5N1-flu vaccine doses to be used for poultry farms and facilities located in border districts between Viet Nam and Cambodia, according to the province's Animal Health Division. All poultry breeding facilities will also be sprayed with disinfectants. In recent weeks, there has been an outbreak of H5N1 flu in the border region.

More than $570,000 provided for fishermen
Quang Ngai Province has provided VND120 billion (US$571,428) to disadvantaged fishermen who own a total of 695 boats since the beginning of the year. Currently, the province has 5,498 boats with total capacity of more than 783,000 CV. In the first five months of this year, fishermen caught nearly 48,690 tonnes, an increase of 11.7 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Southern Kien Giang Province has withdrawn more than 90 projects on a total area of 5,565 hectares on Phu Quoc Island. The projects have been long delayed and were not suitable to the area's development plan

The Ministry of Construction has reported that 7,000 out of 10,000 communes nationwide have completed its new rural area construction plan. Provinces and cities are facing problems allocating money for the plan. The ministry said it would continue to provide guidance to localities to solve any problems.

Ha Giang Province to grow medicinal plants
Mekong Delta Ha Giang Province will grow medical plants in its six districts under a national programme of the Government, with 10,000ha to be cultivated and 50,000 jobs created for ethnic minority people.
