Inspectors in the Social Evils Prevention Department this year have found 258 cases of prostitution at karaoke bars, restaurants, hotels and massage parlours, a seminar on prostitution and drug addiction prevention, held yesterday in Ha Noi, was told.
The violations were found after an inspection of 685 businesses. Violators were fined a total of nearly VND2 billion (US$95,600).
The department said it had helped 862 prostitutes and 5,133 drug addicts reintegrate into the community after they left rehab centres.

Women's clubs support industrial workers
Nearly 4,500 women's clubs in industrial parks in Viet Nam are offering advice and cultural and sports activities to workers.
According to the Women's Committee of the Viet Nam General Confederation of Labour, the country has 1.6 million employees in industrial parks, with female workers making up 40 per cent.

Japan helps Viet Nam improve healthcare
According to Nguyen Thi Xuyen, deputy minister of Health, Japan will provide official development assistance (ODA) worth US$3.2 million to improve healthcare services for six northwest provinces, Lao Cai, Hoa Binh, Son La, Dien Bien, Lai Chau and Yen Bai, until 2016.
The funds will be used to train health officials, develop hospital leadership, and build an electronic inter-hospital transfer system among hospitals.

Ha Noi to improve telecom, postal systems
The Ha Noi People's Committee has approved a Post and Telecommunications Development project through 2020, with a vision to 2030.
The VND7.89 trillion ($377 million) project includes VND3.2 trillion ($152 million) from the city budget.
