Ministry orders tollbooth closed temporarily
The Transport Ministry has ordered the temporary closing of the Tao Xuyen Tollbooth on National Highway in Thanh Hoa Province on October 1.
The move came after the Thanh Hoa BOT Joint-Stock Company failed to replace the tollbooth with a new one at a spot on the highway. The ministry had asked the company to finish the work on July 30, but the company never started the project.
The tollbooth was initially set up to collect tolls from vehicles travelling on the bypass through Thanh Hoa City. However, tolls were collected that were double the amount of other tollgates. Fees from vehicles that did not use the bypass were also collected by the Thanh Hoa company.
