The People's Committee of northern Nam Dinh Province has asked all districts and wards to focus on preventing the spread of swine flu after the disease was spotted in Giao Thuy District's Ngo Dong Town. One person has died of the disease. The provincial Health Department set up a hot line to receive and provide information. The department will strengthen supervision and isolate patients infected with the A/H1N1 flu. Until now, two persons have tested positive for the flu and 15 others are suspect.
The Preventive Medicine Centre of southern Binh Phuoc Province has, meanwhile, reported 11 patients found infected with the A/H1N1 virus since the beginning of this month.

City steps up checks of prices at chemists
HCM City's Department of Health has said it would carry out more surprise inspections of drugstores throughout the city, looking for those who have illegally increased prices as well as those who were not publicising prices of essential drugs. The department would also draw up a list of prices charged by pharmaceutical companies in order to detect any speculation involving essential drugs.

Project to protect exploitation of street kids
A new project that seeks to prevent exploitation and abuse of street children was presented on Wednesday by the HCM City Children Sponsor Association and Dynamo International, an international network of social workers based in Brussels. The project also aims to provide adequate healthcare for needy children.

Nha Trang builds fourth cotton factory
Work began in Nha Trang City last Wednesday on its fourth cotton factory with a capacity of 4,200 tonnes per year. The VND328 billion ($15.7 million) factory is expected to start operations by the end of this year and create 400 jobs for local residents.
