association helps poor build houses
Long An Province’s
Farmers Association has been having success with a fund to help poor farmers
rebuild old houses or build new ones.
Pham Minh Hung, deputy
director of the association, said:"To build our fund, local farmers donate
money and building materials. We give preference to helping the poorest
families, who live in the remote districts of Vinh Hung, Thu Thua, Can Duoc and

Long develops handicraft villages
Vinh Long Province has
officially recognised six more traditional handicraft villages deemed to meet
standards set by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Each
village, located in Vung Liem District’s Tam Binh, Thanh Dong, Thanh Binh and
Quoi Thien communes, has more than 30 per cent of families earning a good and
stable living by doing traditional handicrafts work.
The province has
preferential business policies that support traditional villages.
