Forest closed to public due to high risk of fire

Update: February, 14/2012 - 10:01

CA MAU — The U Minh Ha forest in southernmost Ca Mau Province has been temporarily closed to visitors and forestry workers as hot weather has increased the risk of forest fires, Nguyen Van Dau, deputy director of the U Minh Ha National Park said.

Only visitors with licences issued by the local forest management board are allowed to visit the forest, which is scheduled to re-open in the rainy season.

The provincial People's Committee requires local rangers to maintain 24-hour duty shifts to detect and prevent any forest fires. — VNS
