HCM CITY — Dozens of veteran and young artists will perform at a gala performance this weekend to mark the 30th anniversary of the HCM City Music Association.
The event will include three evening performances, featuring nearly 100 singers, dancers and musicians as well as performers from the city's Children Cultural House.
The concert features Vietnamese music and dance created by the association's members.
Pop stars My Tam and My Le will perform in a show tonight with a two-hour performance called 30 Years of Golden Melodies.
They will sing before an expected audience of 1,500 at the Lan Anh Entertainment Centre.
Tomorrow's show, Singing for Dreams, young singers including Luong Chi Cuong and Pha Le, will show off their voice and dance skills in works for children.
Two children's dance groups from the Children Cultural House will support their performance.
Sunday's show, Forever Songs, will highlight immortal songs by veteran composers Xuan Hong, Hoang Hiep, Phan Nhan, Ca Le Thuan, Lu Nhat Vu and Le Giang, who have contributed to the country's music industry.
People's Artist Tran Hieu, and opera singers Ta Minh Tam and Quang Ly, will participate in the evening.
With previous operatic experience under their belts, the singers will display their range of passionate sounds.
Female artists Lan Ngoc, Hong Hanh and Thanh Thuy will perform with the orchestra's support.
The association's chairman Tran Long An said that through 30 years of developing, the association and its members had made many achievements.
The three shows will begin at 8pm today, tomorrow and Sunday at Lan Anh Entertainment Centre, Children Cultural House and HCM City Television's Theatre, respectively. — VNS
