HCM CITY — Situated some 50km from downtown HCM City, Vàm Sát Ecological Tourist Site in the coastal district of Cần Giờ is a perfect place for those wishing to explore pristine natural sceneries and experience daily life along water.

Easily accessible by high-speed boat and bus, Cần Giờ has a range of new services to fulfill nature lovers’ expectation, including jogging, biking through forests, camping, night fishing and bird-watching.

Situated in the heart of the Cần Giờ Mangrove Forest, Vàm Sát has been acknowledged as one of the world’s most sustainable ecological sites by the World Tourism Organisation.

Visitors are recommended visits to Đầm Dơi (Bat Lagoon) and Tràm Chim (Bird Sanctuary), both nature reserves dedicated to research.

Covering an area of 602.5ha, Tràm Chim is home to 26 bird species including 11 water birds. Đầm Dơi is a dense mangrove forest where hundreds of bats live. People can take a boat trip around the forest to watch these flying mammals.—VNS
