Travellers to the northern province of Nam Định should not miss visiting a ruined church in Hải Lý Commune, Hải Hậu District - and the animated seafood market around it in the morning.

Situated around 120km from Hà Nội, the abandoned church on the Xương Điền coast is a charming place for tourists and photographers thanks to its rugged beauty and perfect harmony with the sea, sun, wind and white sand.

According to local residents, the area around the church was previously a great meeting place for Catholics, but they were forced to move to another place due to coastal erosion. — VNS
