The Mekong province of Kiên Giang received nearly 200,000 visitors during the four-day Liberation, May Day holidays, a year-on-year increase of 47.6 per cent.

 

KIÊN GIANG — The Mekong province of Kiên Giang received nearly 200,000 visitors during the four-day Liberation, May Day holidays, a year-on-year increase of 47.6 per cent.

The figure includes 45,456 visitors to Phú Quốc Island.

Nguyễn Văn Sáu, deputy director of the Kiên Giang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the visitors arriving in Phú Quốc included 4,071 foreigners, a year-on-year increase of 46.9 per cent.

He said the visitors helped the province’s tourism sector attain revenues of VNĐ80 billion (approx. US$3.5 million).

Hotel occupancy rates at tourist spots like Phú Quốc Island, Hà Tiên and Kiên Hải were over 80 per cent.

Room rents and tourist services saw prices rise by 15-20 per cent compared to a year ago, Sáu said. — VNS
