Tien Luc fest opens in Bac Giang

Tien Luc Commune in the northern province Bac Giang's Lang Giang District will organise its traditional festival today.

Folk games such as cockfighting, tug of war, and ball games will be included. The so-called robbing-ball folk game, in which teams try to catch a big ball, reflects the beliefs of an agricultural society for a bumper crop and prosperous life for its citizens.

The event will be held in the commune's four well-known areas: Vien Son Temple, Quang Phuc Pagoda, Tien Luc Temple and Thao Xa house.

Vien Son Temple, Quang Phuc Pagoda and Tien Luc Temple are recognised as national architecture sites.

The festival is held four times a year on January 9, May 20, August 20 and November 20 on the lunar calendar. — VNS
