Bi Rain, an internationally popular singer from South Korea, was commissioned by the organisers of the Miss Việt Nam 2016 beauty contest to perform at its recent event.

The singer, who has a devoted fan base in Việt Nam, however, did not receive the warmest welcome from pageant attendees and TV viewers.

During the final round, Bi Rain sang the songs It’s Raining, La Song, 30 Sexy and My Girl, all in English or Korean.

“Why didn’t the organisers invite Vietnamese singers to perform instead of a Korean entertainer?” Hồng Thanh, who attended the concert, said.
