Nam beats Wachiramanowong in Thailand F2 Futures

Việt Nam’s top tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam beat Kittiphong Wachiramanowong of Thailand in the first round of the Thailand F2 Futures tennis tournament on June 13.

HÀ NỘI – Việt Nam’s top tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam beat Kittiphong Wachiramanowong of Thailand in the first round of the Thailand F2 Futures tennis tournament on Tuesday.

Nam defeated Wachiramanowong 6-2, 6-1 in one hour of play. Last July, in the Davis Cup, Wachiramanowong had beaten Nam.

In the next round, Nam will meet his teammate Trịnh Linh Giang who beat Canada’s Kelsey Stevenson 3-6, 6-3, 6-3.

Nam has moved up 42 spots to reach world No 559, the highest rank a Vietnamese player has ever achieved. He improved his position on entering the semi-finals in the men’s singles category of this year’s Singapore F1 and F3 competitions. – VNS
