HÀ NỘI — Saigon Heat suffered an unlucky loss to Mono Vampire by a score of 89-83 in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) on Wednesday at Stadium 29 in Bangkok, Thailand.

Taking the advantage of being the host, Mono Vampire took an early lead in the first minutes. The efficiency of “the big trio” Malcolm White, Romeo Travis and Michael Singletary helped the Vampire to a lead of 21-12.

In the second quarter, the Heat kept the score within reach thanks to the efforts of Trevon Hughes (8 points) and Trần Đăng Khoa (8 points). They finished the quarter down 34-40.

The Heat took at 52-50 lead midway through the third quarter, but the hosts recovered to finish the quarter at 60-55.

The visiting team kept the score close in the fourth quarter and the game entered extra time with the score tied at 77-77. However, following an injury to shooting guard Trần Đăng Khoa, Vampire managed to pull ahead, leaving the Heat to reluctantly accept a 89-83 defeat.

For the Heat, Trần Đăng Khoa contributes 15 points and 7 rebounds. Trevon Hughes poured in 20 points, 7 rebounds and 5 steals. Kyle Barone contributed 18 points, 16 rebounds and 2 steals and De Angelo Hamilton gave 19 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks.
