Nam knocked out of ATP Challenger Burnia

Việt Nam’s top male tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam was knocked out in the men’s singles qualifying round of the ATP Challenger Burnia in Australia on Monday.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s top male tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam was knocked out in the men’s singles qualifying round of the ATP Challenger Burnia in Australia on Monday.

Nam, world No 421, lost to unranked Australian Jeremy Beale 4-6, 3-6.

The event offers total prize money of US$54,000 with many players in the world’s top 200-300. Nam had to enter through the qualifiers.

The Bình Dương player will stay in Australia with his coach Nahum Garcia Sanchez to take part in the ATP Challenger Launceston to be held from January 28 to February 3.

Nam, who aims to rank in the top 300 in the world this year, will then move to India to compete in an ATP event which falls during Tết (Lunar New Year) holiday. — VNS
