HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s men’s national football team beat the Philippines 4-2 in a friendly match in Doha, Qatar on Monday.

Unusually, the match was split into thirds, with each section lasting 30 minutes.

Việt Nam were the stronger team in the opening period of play but couldn’t find the net.

After the first break, Quang Hải opened the scored after a pass from Hồng Duy. Minutes later Văn Đức doubled the score.

After coach Park made some switches in the formation, Philippines managed to level.

However, Văn Hậu hit a sweet volley to regain the lead for Việt Nam, and a fourth goal in the last third of the game by Ngọc Hải put the game beyond the reach of the Philippines.
