HÀ NỘI — The national football team have been awarded billions of đồng for their success at the ongoing ASEAN Football Federation Championship. And there’s more up for grabs if they raise the trophy.
Việt Nam have the away goals advantage after a 2-2 draw in Malaysia in the first leg of the final on Tuesday.
After the group stages, the team pocketed VNĐ2.4 billion (US$103,000) from local enterprises and the Việt Nam Football Federation.
Beating the Philippines in the semi-finals, the side, who have yet to lose a game in the tournament, won VNĐ1 billion ($43,000) from the VFF and VNĐ300 million ($13,000) from Asanzo Group.
They also grabbed VNĐ1 billion ($43,000) from Vinaphone for scoring two goals in the final first leg, and a VNĐ500 million ($21,500) holiday for all the team members from Eurowindow.
Thaco Group has pledged to give the players VNĐ1 billion ($43,000) and $50,000 for coach Park Hang Seo in case of winning the silverware.
As one of two finalists, the VFF will win $100,000 from the organizers and $300,000 if they win the title.
Việt Nam will host Malaysia in the return leg on Saturday at Hà Nội’s 45,000-seat Mỹ Đình Stadium. — VNS
