Vietnamese Grandmaster Lê Quang Liêm now ranks 27th out of 150 players at the ongoing Isle of Man International Chess Tournament, in the UK.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese Grandmaster Lê Quang Liêm now ranks 27th of 150 players at the ongoing Isle of Man International Chess Tournament in the UK.

Liêm, Elo 2,715, beat International Master Ilja Schneider of Germany in the eighth round.

After eight rounds, the HCM City-born player Liêm has five points. He will meet Grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa of India in the last round.

At present, Radosław Wojtaszek of Poland leads with 6.5 points, followed by Arkadij Naiditsch of Azerbaijan and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave of France.

The Isle of Man tournament features 20 players, including some of the top grandmasters in the world. — VNS
