Tâm wins gold at int’l boxing event in Bulgaria

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese female boxer Nguyễn Thị Tâm has the golden touch.

The fighter has scooped a gold medal at the fourth Women’s and Women’s Youth Boxing Tournament in Bulgaria yesterday.

Tâm beat four rivals in the women’s 51kg category to take the title.

She is leading boxer of Việt Nam in this category and add this gold to the bronze in the Asian Games in Indonesia last month and a gold at the Asian Boxing Championship held in HCM City last year.

In addition to Tâm’s gold medal, Việt Nam won two more silvers and one bronze. The silvers went to Đỗ Thị Thuý in the 54kg and Nguyễn Thành Thanh Thơm in the 57kg. While the bronze was won by Nguyễn Thị Hương in the 75kg.

Việt Nam sent five boxers to the event which attracted of 200 fighters from 17 countries.

They will next be on the ring at the National Sports Games in late November in Hà Nội. — VNS
