HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam lost to Thailand 1-3 in the opening match of Group A of the 2018 Asian LienVietPostBank Women’s U19 Volleyball Championship on June 10.

The game was held in the northern province of Bắc Ninh.

Việt Nam will next face China on June 11 and Japan on June 12.

At the previous championship in 2016 in Thailand, China finished first, followed by Japan, Thailand and Việt Nam.

The Asian Women’s U19 Volleyball Championship is a biennial volleyball competition in Asia and Oceania among the Under-19 women’s teams of the members of the Asian Volleyball Confederation.

According to deputy head of the Vietnam Sports Administration Trần Đức Phấn, this is the first time Việt Nam has hosted the Asian U19 woman’s volleyball event, with the largest number of teams -16 -so far. — VNS
