VN win bronze at int’l volleyball event

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam won a bronze medal at the LienVietPostBank International Men’s Volleyball Tournament which concluded at the Hà Nam gymnasium in northern Hà Nam province on May 31.

The team crushed Kazakhstan 3-0 in the match for third place.

Earlier, Việt Nam lost to Kazakhstan 1-3 in the qualifying round.

Việt Nam fought back strongly following the 0-3 loss against Thailand in the semi-finals. They controlled this game and beat the solid defence of Kazakhstan to win the match.

“I am very satisfied about my players’ competitive spirit and about the progress of young players in this year’s event. However, the Vietnamese team need to fix several weak points,” said Vietnamese coach Phùng Công Hưng.

The event will be a warm-up for Việt Nam to prepare for the Asian Games to be held in Indonesia in August. — VNS
