HÀ NỘI — HCM City took first place at the National Age Groups Swimming Championship in Đà Nẵng yesterday.

The team won a total of 22 golds, 15 silvers and 11 bronzes after three days of competition. The National Defence Sports Centre 5 came second with 20 golds, seven silvers and 14 bronzes. Quảng Bình were third with 10 golds, eight silvers and two bronzes.

Hanoian swimmers only ranked ninth out of 18 teams with two golds, seven silvers and five bronzes.

In the girls’ 50m backstroke aged 16-18, Nguyễn Diệp Phương Trâm brought HCM City a gold medal with a time of 31.17secs. Hoàng Thị Trang of Thanh Hóa and Lê Thị Loan of National Defence Sports Centre 5 took silver and bronze medal, respectively.

On the boys’ side, Nguyễn Hải Long of Hà Nội finished first after clocking a time of 27.90secs, followed by Lương Jeremie of HCM City and Bùi Công Thành of Hà Nội.

Notably, Trần Hùng Nguyễn of the Centre 5 broke two national records in the boys’ 50m backstroke aged 14-15 and 100m freestyle category.
