HÀ NỘI — The country’s highest ranking tennis player, Lý Hoàng Nam will face current national champion Phạm Minh Tuấn in the semi-final of the Việt Nam Tennis Federation Pro Tour.

Nam, of Becamex Bình Dương, became the tournament’s number one seed yesterday after beating Hanoian Nguyễn Đắc Tiến 6-1, 6-1 at the Hải Đăng Tennis Club in Tây Ninh Province.

In his quarter-final match, Tuấn saw off Lâm Hoàng Nam of Kiên Giang 6-1, 6-3.

The other semi will see veteran Đỗ Minh Quân from HCM City and No 2 seed Trịnh Linh Giang of Becamex Bình Dương face each other.

In the doubles category, Nam and his partner Huỳnh Minh Thịnh withdrew from the semi-final match after the latter suffered an injury, leaving their rivals Quân and Lê Quốc Khánh through to the final.

They will play Huỳnh Chí Khương and Trần Thanh Hoàng of the Military, who beat Bùi Chí Nguyên and Nguyễn Anh Thắng of the hosts 3-6, 6-4, 10-4, for the gold medal.

On the women’s side, Tiffany Linh Nguyễn of Becamex Bình Dương, the top seeding player, will face Savanna Lý Nguyễn of the Military in the first last-four match. While Trần Thụy Thanh Trúc will be against No 2 seed Sỹ Bội Ngọc in an all-HCM City meet.

The women’s doubles final will be a clash between Đặng Thị Hạnh and Hoàng Thị Hà of Hải Dương versus Nguyễn Từ Kim Ngân and Savanna of the Military.
