VN win five golds in Singapore

Vietnamese athletes brought home five gold and one silver medals from the 80th Singapore Open Track and Field Championship which closed yesterday.

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese athletes brought home five golds and one silver medal from the 80th Singapore Open Track and Field Championship which closed yesterday.

Two-time Southeast Asian Games winner Nguyễn Thị Oanh won the women’s 1,500m event in a time of 4 min 16.20sec. Lod Inthakoumman from Laos came second and Aye Aye Aung of Myanmar was third.
It was Oanh’s second gold in Singapore. Earlier, she triumphed in the 3,000m steeplechase.

Three other golds went to Phạm Thị Huệ and Nguyễn Văn Lai in the women’s and men’s 5000m, respectively, and Lê Trung Đức in the men’s 3,000m steeplechase.

The only silver went to Phạm Thị Hồng Lệ in the women’s 5,000m. — VNS
