HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese competitors continued to win in the second day of the “Ciputra Hà Nội – Yonex Sunrise Việt Nam International Challenge” badminton tournament yesterday.

Number two seed Nguyễn Tiến Minh defeated Kittipong Imnark of Malaysia by a score of 21-15, 21-5, to advance to the men’s singles quarter-finals, where he will play another Malaysian, Kunlavut Vitidsarn.

His teammate, Phạm Cao Cường, also progressed to the last-eight, after beating Chen Chi Ting of Chinese Taipei by 21-16, 16-21, 21-8. The number eight seed will face the qualifier, Gatjra Piliang Fiqihila Cupu, of Indonesia.

In the women’s competition, Vũ Thị Trang progressed to the second round after defeating Tang Wan Yi of Chinese Taipei by 21-19, 21-19 yesterday. Her next opponent will be Sri Fatmawati of Indonesia.

Her teammate and the number eight seed, Nguyễn Thùy Linh, will meet Chananchida Jucharoen of Thailand in her next match. — VNS
