HÀ NỘI — The Golden Ball 2017 organisers, Sài Gòn Giải Phóng (Liberated Saigon) newspaper announced the shortlist for categories in the nomination on December 20.

The five nominees for the male Golden Ball category are Nguyễn Anh Đức of Becamex Bình Dương, Nguyễn Quang Hải of Hà Nội FC, Trần Phi Sơn of Sông Lam Nghệ An, Đinh Thanh Trung of QNK Quảng Nam and Lương Xuân Trường who plays as a central midfielder for Gangwon FC of South Korea, on loan from V. League 1 club Hoàng Anh Gia Lai.

The top five players for the female Golden Ball are Nguyễn Thị Tuyết Dung and Nguyễn Thị Liễu of Phong Phú Hà Nam, Chương Thị Kiều, Huỳnh Như and Đặng Thị Kiều Trinh of HMC City.

In the futsal category, Thái Sơn Nam have three representatives including Phạm Đức Hòa, Phùng Trọng Luân and Trần Văn Vũ. While Thái Sơn Bắc has one candidate, Nguyễn Văn Huy and one more is Khổng Đình Hùng of Sanatech Khánh Hòa.

There are three nominees for the award of best young male footballer including Nguyễn Quang Hải and Đoàn Văn Hậu of Hà Nội and Phan Thanh Hậu of Hoàng Anh Gia Lai.

While top three for the best female young footballer are Nguyễn Thị Minh Anh of Hà Nam, Nguyễn Thị Tuyết Ngân of HCM City and Nguyễn Thị Vạn of Việt Nam Coal and Mineral.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on January 2 in HCM City. — VNS
