HÀ NỘI — Sanna Khánh Hòa have earned a ticket to compete in the final of the Toyota Mekong Club Championship 2017.
The team beat Lao Toyota FC 2-0 in the event’s semifinal on December 17 on away turf.
Nguyễn Tấn Tài and Youssouf Toure scored goals for the coastal team in the 35th and 84th minutes.
“I am very satisfied with the match result as the game was very difficult. Their rival had a wonderful sporting spirit and played a fast game. We met many challenges, but we overcame them to win,” coach Võ Đình Tân of Khánh Hòa said.
The team will meet Muangthong United FC of Thailand in the final’s first leg on December 23 in Việt Nam, while the final’s second leg will take place on January 6 next year in Thailand.
Muangthong United are more highly appreciated than Khánh Hòa in the final, but coach Tân said his players would create a surprise.
“We know the Thai team are stronger than us as they have triumphed at this event twice. Muangthong United are also a leading football team of Thailand. It will be a difficult match but we will make every effort,” Tân said. — VNS
