HÀ NỘI — Grandmaster Lê Quang Liêm of Việt Nam ranked ninth after 11 rounds of the blitz chess event during the International Mind Sports Association Elite Games.

Liêm, the 2013 world blitz chess champion, grabbed only 4.5 points, with only three wins, three draws and five losses in the first-leg period at the Games, ongoing in Huai’an City, Jiangshu, China.

He will play in the second leg, with another 11 matches, for a berth in the top three.

Liêm finished the rapid chess class with a bronze medal on Monday. — VNS
