HÀ NỘI — Despite the rain, Lê Nguyệt Minh triumphed in the second stage of the Bình Dương Television Cycling Tournament, Ống Nhựa Hoa Sen Cup, on December 4.
With best sprint in the last metres, Minh from VUS-HCM City beat strong rivals to take lead with a time of 3:29.40 in the 132km race from Phan Rang-Tháp Chàm City to Ninh Hòa District in Khánh Hòa Province.
Minh’s teammates, Lê Văn Duẩn and Mai Nguyễn Hưng finished second and third.
The national cyclist Minh also won the green jersey with 28 points, followed by Phạm Quốc Cường of Domesco Pharmacy Đồng Tháp with 13 points.
Although, Phạm Quốc Cường of Đồng Tháp didn’t rank in top three of this stage, he still held the yellow jersey award for the best overall time.
Today, nearly 70 cyclists will compete in the third stage from Ninh Hòa to Krông Pắk of Đắk Lắk Province, lasting 124km.
The tournament, which covers nine stages, has a total prize of VNĐ400 million (US$17,400), of which the winners of the overall yellow jersey will earn VNĐ60 million ($2,600). — VNS
