HÀ NỘI — Nearly 150 players took part in the national chess and Chinese chess tournament for top players held in the northern province of Bắc Giang yesterday.

They represented 16 teams from across the country including Hà Nội, HCM City, Hải Phòng, Đà Nẵng, Cần Thơ and Bình Định. They will vie for four sets of medals in Chinese chess and four sets of medal in chess in the standard and blitz categories.

According to the event’s organising board, fans will have a chance to see the performance of the country’s leading players, including Nguyễn Thị Mai Hưng and Võ Thị Kim Phụng of Bắc Giang; Hoàng Thị Bảo Trâm, Nguyễn Anh Khôi, Nguyễn Thị Thanh An of HCM City; Cao Sang of Lâm Đồng and Nguyễn Đức Hòa of the Military team.

The event, which was jointly held by the National Sports Administration and the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will run until November 30. — VNS
