HÀ NỘI — Trần Thanh Điền of VUS-HCM City won the overall yellow jersey at the Nam Kỳ Khởi Nghĩa cycling tournament which wrapped up yesterday in HCM City.
Điền won the event’s top award for the best overall time of 25:08.47 after seven stages. Trần Lê Minh Tuấn of Military Zone 7 and Nguyễn Nhật Nam of Domesco Pharmacy Đồng Tháp were the runners-up.
The red jersey as the King of Mountain went to Phan Hoàng Thái of Domesco Pharmacy Đồng Tháp with 17 points. Thái’s teammate Nguyễn Tấn Hoài and Điền ranked second and third with 12 and 10 points, respectively.
The green jersey as the best sprinter went to Lê Nguyệt Minh of HCM City with 50 points. While Ngô Văn Phương of Gạo Hạt Ngọc Trời An Giang won the white jersey as the best young cyclist with a total time of 25:11.47.
Yesterday also saw Phạm Phát Đạt of Hóc Môn, the winner of the last 185km stage from Bảo Lộc City of Lâm Đồng Province to Hóc Môn District of HCM City after clocking a time of 4:41.11 with an average speed of 39.476 kmh.
In the team’s rankings, Domesco Pharmacy Đồng Tháp triumphed with a total time of 75:34.02, followed by VUS-HCM City and Military Zone 7.
The event, which attracted 10 teams nationwide, has belonged to the national competition system since 2009 and has a total prize pot of VNĐ300 million (US$14,500). — VNS
