The Thanh Niên Newspaper International U21 Football Tournament will run in the southern province of Cần Thơ from December 12-22.

HÀ NỘI — The Thanh Niên Newspaper International U21 Football Tournament will run in the southern province of Cần Thơ from December 12-22.

The annual event will feature five teams, namely defending champions U21 Yokohama of Japan, U21 Thailand, U21 Myanmar, U21 Việt Nam and U19 Việt Nam.

Teams will compete in a round robin format, with the two best teams entering the final.

The winner will walk away with VNĐ700 million (US$30,000).

According to the Việt Nam Football Federation, a strong Vietnamese U21 side will be selected, with many players who competed in the U20 World Cup early this year.

U21 Việt Nam will meet Thailand in the opening match on December 12, then U19 Việt Nam face Yokohama two days later. — VNS
