Chinese masters to compete in year-end chess final

Eight national leading athletes will compete in the final of the Trạng Cờ Đất Việt, a year-end event of Chinese chess tournament for best players.

HÀ NỘI — Eight national leading athletes will compete in the final of the Trạng Cờ Đất Việt, a year-end event of Chinese chess tournament for best players.

They qualified for the final after winning in qualification and final rounds of the three regions which lured more than 600 opponents.

The two-day event will be held in Ninh Bình Province this weekend.

Athletes will be divided into two groups, competing in a round robin format. The two best of each group will advance to the semi-finals.

The winner will walk away with VNĐ30 million (US$1,300).

Last year, Trềng A Sáng of HCM City beat Tôn Thất Nhật Tân from Đà Nẵng to lift the cup. — VNS
