HÀ NỘI — Vũ Thị Anh Thư was defeated 13-21, 9-21 by Aurum Oktavia of Indonesia in the women’s singles category at the Badminton World Federation Junior Championships yesterday. After her loss there are no Vietnamese players left at the tournament.

In other matches, No 1 seed Pattarasuda Chaiwan of Thailand advanced to the quarter-finals after beating Qi Xuan Eoon of Malaysia 21-6, 21-8.

She will next play No 6 Cai Yanyan of China.

Other quarters will see an all-Indonesia match Gregoria Mariska Tunjung vs Oktavia; No 10 Chananchida Jucharoen of Thailand vs No 4 Goh Jin Wwi of Malaysia; and No 5 Han Yue from China vs her fellow countrywoman Zhou Meng. — VNS
