Tuấn wins 56kg category at national weightlifting event

Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Thạch Kim Tuấn defeated Trần Lê Quốc Toàn to win three gold medals at the men’s 56kg category of the National Weightlifting Championship.

HCM City — Southeast Asian Games gold medalist Thạch Kim Tuấn defeated Trần Lê Quốc Toàn to win three gold medals at the men’s 56kg category of the National Weightlifting Championship.

At the championship, which opened in HCM City on October 12, Tuấn of HCM City lifted 122kg to take the gold medal in snatch, while Toàn of Đà Nẵng bagged the silver medal with 118kg.

In clean and jerk, Tuấn won the gold medal with his lift of 150kg, while Toàn got the silver medal with 149kg.

In total lift, Tuấn went for gold with 272kg, while Toàn was the runner-up with 267kg.

Hanoian Lại Gia Thành won two bronze medals in this division, with 147kg in clean and jerk and 263kg in total lift.

In the women’s 48kg category, Vương Thị Huyền of Hà Nội won three gold medals in snatch, clean and jerk and total lift, with 79kg, 99kg and 178kg, respectively.

In the women’s 53kg division, Nguyễn Thị Thúy won two gold medals in clean and jerk with 110kg and total lift with 190kg. The gold medal in snatch went to Nguyễn Hồng Nhung of Hải Dương with 81kg.

The five-day event, which attracted the participation of 137 weightlifters from 23 teams across the country, will end on October 16. — VNS
