HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội FC jumped to the second position in the V.League after trouncing Long An 4-0 in a round 20 match at their Hàng Đẫy Stadium yesterday.

All the four goals were scored in the second half with Nguyễn Quang Hải making the opener two minutes after the interval.

Đỗ Hùng Dũng, Nguyễn Văn Quyết and Oseni Ganiyu Bolaji scored one each in the last 10 minutes of the game.

The ninth win of the defending champions lifted them from No 4 to No 2 with 35 points, two less than FLC Thanh Hóa on the top.

On the other side, Long An received their 15th defeat and have plunged to the bottom, with just nine points so far.

Quảng Nam, the dark horse, tied with former winner Becamex Bình Dương 1-1 in an earlier match. They were down to the third position with as many points as Hà Nội but having smaller goal difference.

Quảng Nam, however, suffered big loss when their foreign player Thiago suffered a broken nose and will be sidelined for a month. The Brazilian thus ended his season earlier than expected.

Sanna Khánh Hòa dumped Hoàng Anh Gia Lai 4-2 to step closer to the top three, with a two-point gap, which they will need to fill in their next fixtures.

Lâm Ti Phông scored a hat-trick and Nguyễn Hoàng Quốc Chí’s goal was sandwiched between these goals.

Marcelino Motta Henrique and Nguyễn Công Phượng scored for Hoàng Anh Gia Lai, but their efforts were not enough to save their team.

Hoàng Anh Gia Lai are now third from the bottom. They have only two points more than their nearest rival Cần Thơ, who drew with Quảng Ninh Coal in a goalless tie yesterday.

Sông Lam Nghệ An secured their fifth win of the season after beating Sài Gòn FC 2-0.

Trần Phi Sơn, who is considering offers from Japanese clubs, opened the score in the 14th minute. His teammate Olaha Michael Onyedikachi sealed the win with a penalty shootout in additional time.

In other matches, HCM City tied with SHB Đà Nẵng 1-1; FLC Thanh Hóa had the same result in a game versus Hải Phòng on home soil. — VNS
