Nam struggles to win Thailand F5 first match

It took Lý Hoàng Nam nearly three hours to beat Arata Onozawa in the first round match of the Thailand F5 Futures tennis tournament on Tuesday in Nonthaburi Province.

HÀ NỘI — It took Lý Hoàng Nam nearly three hours to beat Arata Onozawa in the first round match of the Thailand F5 Futures tennis tournament on Tuesday in Nonthaburi Province.

Nam, who is the No 3 seed, came from behind to win 5-7, 6-2, 7-6 (6) against his unseeded rival from Japan in the men’s singles event. 

The Vietnamese will next play Karunuday Singh of India, who beat China’s Li Yuanfeng 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. 

Nam and his partner Nguyễn Hoàng Thiên will also play their quarterfinal match today against Lozenzon Frigerio of Italy and Sami Reinwein of Germany. — VNS
